Oil seals spring ensure the sealing against the pressure of the lip on the shaft. Another function of the spring is to maintain the balance of wear during the operation of the lip. It is made of harmonic steel wire in the SAE 1074 (DIN 17223) springs or AISI 316-AISI 304 stainless steel wire. In the standard FPM (Viton) version - in most cases - the spring is made of 1.4301 (AISI 304) stainless steel.
